Mohammad Alauddin
Rector, BPMI
Mohammad Alauddin joined as the Rector of Bangladesh Power Management Institute (BPMI), the apex training institute of the power sector, on 19 October 2022. Prior to his current appointment, he was the Chairman of Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA). He spent more than a decade working in the Power Division of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources. Mr. Alauddin started his carrier in the Bangladesh Civil Service administration cadre in 1991. He served in different ministries as well as in field administration in various capacities. Mr. Alauddin received his B.Sc. Ag. (Honours) degree from the Bangladesh Agricultural University. He earned Masters in Public Affairs (MPA) with specialization in Governance and Public Policy with highest distinction from the Civil Service College, Dhaka. He also holds a postgraduate diploma with distinction in Development Planning. He taught part- time at the Asian University of Bangladesh and the Civil Service College in Dhaka.
He traveled to many countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania and North America as part of Delegation from the Government of Bangladesh and presented country papers at a number of seminars and symposiums. He attended professional courses at Institute of Public-Private Partnership in the United States, Meridian College in the United Kingdom, Civil Service College in Singapore, The National University of Malaysia (UKM), Japan International Cooperation Agency in Tokyo, Korea International Cooperation Agency in South Korea, The Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand, and a few other institutions.
A development researcher by passion and a green energy enthusiast, Mr. Alauddin contributes on the topic to various national dailies as well as at the national training and policy workshops. He is married and blessed with one daughter and one son.
